Failure of equipment or procedures can cause serious harm or result in defective products. As a manufacturer and supplier to the prestressed concrete industry for over 50 years, Spiroll has the expertise to help producers identify key issues and provide solutions that address them.
By providing training and services designed to fit in with their production setup and schedule, Spiroll helps customers achieve optimal safety and accuracy in prestressing operations.
Spiroll has agreed and formalised with Proskills a stressing training scheme for all employees involved with the prestressing of precast concrete. Since 2003 the scheme has been continually developed and improved to keep pace with the industry and best practice. It has been a significant step in contributing to accident reduction in the precast industry.
The training is tailored to suit a factory’s facilities and working procedures. Personnel will be trained to demonstrate necessary skills, knowledge and competence levels. It commences with a review of production facilities and stressing equipment followed by classroom training, written and practical assessment. Certification is provided to cover the training modules successfully completed. In addition Spiroll can provide safe systems of work and risk assessments.
This extension will review operations and provide written guidance for safe working practices and identifying the risks associated with stressing. Spiroll has successfully completed stressing training courses in over 100 precast factories worldwide.
Features
Spiroll can offer a number of services integral to a safe stressing operation. These include maintenance and calibration of equipment. Based on years of experience, our technicians can provide a full service for a wide variety of prestressing equipment.
After servicing the equipment you be will provided with a full report. A certificate identifying the due date of the next service and any recommendations for future reference is also issued. As well as a pump and jack service, calibration of equipment can also be carried out. An important part of any stressing operation is to ensure that the equipment being used is calibrated to the correct extension and load required.
This will avoid problems with under or over stressing, which can lead to products that do not meet their performance expectations. This is also a common cause of injury to stressing operatives. The calibration of the prestressing equipment can also be carried out on site if required, so as not to disrupt production. Following the work, a certificate identifying the due date for the next visit is issued.
As well as for health and safety reasons, calibration of prestressing equipment is also essential for CE marking of prestressed concrete products.
Spiroll has a fleet of stressing equipment available for hire to work on a range of different products, from 5 mm wire right up to 18 mm strand. This can be used to cover service or breakdown periods for existing pumps and jacks, avoiding any disruption to production.
